About the Book
The traditional tale of witches riding on the backs of hyenas, traversing the dark night to accomplish their evil wishes, was first told in the Kalahari Desert some nine hundred years ago. Today, we sit around evening fires wondering if the discovery of our lakes and rivers by our grandfathers was achieved under the auspices of those moonlit trips on hyenas’ backs.
Dreams have the power to move across our memories, reshaping what we understand of centuries long-gone. The origins of intertribal wars sit at the tip of a deadly poisoned arrow, imposing co-existence which ultimately led to peace and harmony between the Tswana and the Dxana of the Desert. But in truth, it all began in the Forest of Little Feet: Moshawa, the land of plenty and abundance. It is here that the Great Message was first delivered by the Kaukau of Xawa.
Read The Lion Dance by Kuela Kiema, where the bushman of all times and all tribes of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Botswana, shares the story of the origin of tribal dominance.
